Power level: 💯 Teams at NASAStennis Space Center continue to progress in certifying the redesigned RS-25 engines to be used on #Artemis V and beyond. The engines are on the fourth of a series of 12 trials called hot fire certification tests, where engineers test the engines for 6,150 seconds of fire time, most occurring above the planned 111% power level. Four RS-25 engines help propel the Space Launch System during the eight-minute climb through our atmosphere, producing 2 million pounds (900,000 kg) of thrust combined. The redesigned RS-25 engines will help humanity establish a long-term presence on and around the Moon, a vital stepping stone toward Mars.
