Visiting the Martian moon Phobos – from the safety of Earth 🌍 Four volunteers are living and working like astronauts on a simulated trip to Phobos with the Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA) team at NASAJohnson. Vanesa Gomez Gonzalez, Sandra Herrmann, Kimberly Knish, and Katie Koube are the fourth group to participate in this current mission, which helps researchers see firsthand how confinement, isolation, and remote conditions affect crew members, similar to what astronauts may face during future #Artemis missions. While aboard HERA, the crew members will perform science experiments like analyzing rock samples and testing augmented reality, all the while experiencing increasing communications delays with “ground” teams.
