On November 26, Flight Day 11, NASA’s Orion spacecraft’s optical navigation camera captured this lunar snapshot as the spacecraft was in distant retrograde orbit around the Moon. Orion uses the optical navigation camera to capture imagery of the Earth and the Moon at different phases and distances, providing an enhanced body of data to certify its effectiveness under different lighting conditions as a way to help orient the spacecraft on future missions with crew. Feeling inspired? Don’t forget there’s still time to share your #NASAMoonSnap throughout the #Artemis I mission! Image Description: The Moon is in the distance and partially shaded, with its craters showing bright. Image credit: NASA #Orion #Spacecraft #LunarSurface #FarSide #Moon #LunarPhotography
