On June 14th, 2022, engineers installed the Mass Spectrometer Observing Lunar Operations (MSolo) onto its radiator bracket at NASAKennedy. The radiator bracket will keep MSolo’s temperature stable in the extreme conditions it will face on the Moon. MSolo is designed to help analyze the chemical makeup of lunar landing sites and study water on the Moon as a part of #Artemis. Thanks to NASA’s commercial partners, as a part of the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, MSolo instruments will fly on four CLPS missions under Artemis beginning in 2023. On missions like the Polar Resources Ice Mining Experiment and the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover, MSolo’s instruments will perform experiments, test technologies, and demonstrate capabilities to help NASA explore the Moon and prepare for human missions to the lunar surface.
