The one… the only… Moonikin. Commander Moonikin Campos is preparing for his greatest adventure yet: flying to the Moon and back aboard #Artemis I. During the mission, he will be helping collect data on the vibrations and accelerations future astronauts will experience on the journey inside the Orion spacecraft. He will be accompanied by his two quirky companions, Helga and Zohar. As a part of a collaborative effort between the Israel Space Agency (ISA) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Helga and Zohar will be testing a radiation protection vest that may be worn by future astronauts. The Moonikin was named “Campos” last year during the “Name the Artemis I Moonikin Challenge” when the public had the opportunity to vote on a winning name. “Campos” is a reference to Arturo Campos, an electrical engineer who was instrumental in the Apollo 13 rescue efforts.
