I think, therefore I land 🤔 50 years ago today, Apollo 16 landed on the surface on the Descartes Highlands, near the heavily worn Descartes crater. This photo shows mission commander John Young grabbing tools from the Lunar Rover. During the surface extravehicular activity, or EVA, Young and Charles Duke took measurements of solar winds, collected samples, and measured the Moon's magnetism.
