Mapping the Moon 🌕 NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has mapped the Moon from orbit for nearly 13 years, adopting a precise system of lunar latitude and longitude. With such a system, we can confidently pinpoint any feature on the Moon, including the exact location of its South Pole, seen here. Our #Artemis missions will explore the Moon’s South Pole region, a land of extremes with brilliantly lit crater rims and permanently shadowed crater floors that hide precious resources, like water.
