Most commercial calendars will show this full Moon on Sunday, Dec. 19 because they are based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The Moon will appear full for three days around this time, from Friday evening through Monday morning, making this a full Moon weekend. According to the Maine Farmers' Almanac, a full Moon in December is called the Cold Moon due to the long, cold nights.
