Join us in welcoming 10 new astronaut candidates to the team! 🧑‍🚀 Today NASA Administrator Bill Nelson introduced the members of the 2021 NASAAstronauts class at Ellington Field near NASAJohnson Space Center. The selected candidates were chosen from a field of more than 12,000 applicants. The candidates will report for duty in January 2022 for two years of training which includes operating and maintaining the International Space Station's complex systems, training for spacewalks, developing complex robotics skills, safely operating a T-38 training jet, and Russian language skills. These intrepid explorers may one day be chosen for missions to the Moon on the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System with Artemis.
