The term "supermoon" was coined by the astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979 and refers to either a new or full Moon that occurs when the Moon is within 90% of perigee, its closest approach to Earth. Now that NASA’s Orion spacecraft is secured atop the powerful Space Launch System rocket, the integrated system is entering the final phase of preparations for an upcoming uncrewed flight test around the Moon. The Artemis I will mission pave the way for a future flight tests with crew before NASA establishes a regular cadence of more complex missions with astronauts on and around the Moon under #Artemis.
