What’s trickier than landing an uncrewed spacecraft on a rugged surface? Landing it in the dark. 😎⁣⁣ ⁣ On May 28, 2014, nasa launched a Morpheus prototype lander from nasakennedy over a flame trench. It ascended 800 feet (244 meters) into the dark Florida sky and used Autonomous Landing Hazard Avoidance Technology for guidance.
