NASA has a new direction to refocus exploration efforts to the Moon, with an eye on Mars and beyond. In honor of future steps to other worlds, we look to a seen from the past... a close-up view of astronaut Buzz Aldrin’s boot and bootprint in the lunar soil, photographed with a 70mm lunar surface camera during the Apollo 11 lunar surface extravehicular activity (EVA). While astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, commander, and Edwin A. Aldrin Jr., lunar module pilot, descended in the Lunar Module “Eagle" to explore the Sea of Tranquility region of the Moon, astronaut Michael Collins, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules “Columbia" in lunar orbit.
