In 1998, space shuttle Discovery and STS-91 launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center (nasakennedy) on the ninth and final Shuttle-Mir docking mission. Between March 1995 and May 1998, NASA and Russian scientists conducted experiments on the Russian space station designed to answer vital questions about how humans function in space and how to build future space stations. Today, the Payload Operations Integration Center at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (NASA_Marshall) serves as "science central" for the International Space Station, working 24/7/365 in support of the orbiting laboratory's scientific experiments.
