Silicon Valley now rules our lives. They decide so much of what we see, what we read, what we share. Even in the upcoming London Mayor election, the major social media companies and search engine platforms have a significant role to play in the outcome, with all of the mainstream parties spending sizable sums on online advertising. The digital mega-corporations are happy to make billions from their positions of power, but are also increasingly abusing that power to censor digital communications. Nowhere is this more evident than my recent experience with YouTube.
