Spectacular photo of a blood moon shot from a rooftop in Los Angeles, California, only feet from the famed Sunset Strip. This photo was taken on April 14, 2014, and is the first of four consecutive total lunar eclipses in 2014 and 2015, ending with the super blood moon that appeared on September 27, 2015. This series of consecutive eclipses is known as a tetrad. During the 5000-year period from -1999 to +3000, there are 4378 penumbral eclipses, 4207 partial lunar eclipses, and 3479 total lunar eclipses.
