Growing up, there was no Oakland soccer team to support or kit to wear on match days. To have the opportunity to put Oakland on my chest with this group was a surreal and historic experience. Kids in Oakland and the Bay now have an opportunity to see a team I didn’t, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. It’s not the result we wanted, but it’s one we will be better because of.
