I grew up playing on a boys hockey team. I grew up admiring male pro hockey players. I grew up with the belief that women couldn’t play professional hockey. I grew up never seeing women in hockey and I want to change that. I want the next generation of female hockey players to not only have their own professional league to play in but also have professional players to look up to who look like them. I’m very excited to see hockey return but I also reflect on the fact that we don’t have a professional league to return to.
