(11 Sep 2020) Ethiopia celebrated its 2013 New Year on Friday, seven years behind the Gregorian Calendar. At Bole Medhane Alem Church in Addis Ababa, the holiday was celebrated in a slightly subdued manner, mainly because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, in Atikilt Tera, a large open vegetable market, the atmosphere was different. "People are acting as if there is no coronavirus," observed market customer Yohannes Adane, baffled by the crowds of people moving around the the market.
