I can’t speak for other athletes, but for ME … the fitness testing for our National Team was by far the most mental challenge I’d ever encountered.

I disliked the things we did, and at times didn’t see how they related to my position.

Long story short…. Sometimes in sport, you have to be GREAT at things you may dislike or disagree with for the better of the team.

I had been that selfish teammate back before the 2008 Olympics, I stayed in my own bubble 🫧 and learned quickly I’m no bigger then the team.

Fitness testing was a reflection of the work we had put in as a squad…

Did I HATE it yes, was I better because of the mental strain it put on me… YES.

The question I always get is “Would I go back and do it all again.”?
