Front Squat: Everyone’s favorite, second to the back squat?? ✅ Similar to the back squat, set the feet about shoulder width apart, toes pointed slightly outward ✅ As implied by the name, the load is in front of the body (🤯) ✅ The bar is “gripped” with the hands just outside the shoulders or slightly wider. But it’s not really “gripped” because the bar should be sitting straight across your shoulders just at the base of the neck. ✅ To put it another way, the load is supported by the shoulders/torso, your hands are just there to help keep the bar in place. ✅ To create the proper “shoulder shelf” to support the bar, elbows should be high and pointed pretty much straight forward during the entire lift ✅ Hand width and elbow position, as well as how many fingers you can wrap around the bar will be largely dependent on arm length and shoulder/wrist mobility.
