What’s your LEAST favorite exercise? For many the answer might be the Turkish Getup. ⠀
⠀
It’s complex, it can’t be rushed, and it can be brutally tiring. But this is precisely why it can be fantastic movement for those forced to train at home during this global health crises without much equipment. While most commonly performed with a kettlebell, you can use a dumbbell, barbell, milk jug, go empty handed or even hold another person. The movement involves multiple different movement patterns into one exercise making it a highly efficient exercise. When performed correctly, you’ll be forced to brace, hinge, lunge and hold a press position all in one exercise. This makes the Turkish Getup one of only a few Swiss army knives of the exercise world. It provides a variety of movement patterns in one exercise. This variety is often not found in more common single movement pattern lifts like the squat, deadlift and press. ⠀
