Plyometric exercises are one of the most beneficial activities for speed-power athletes. They help develop explosive power and eccentric capacity. Plyometrics can range from low intensity (jumping rope) to high intensity (depth drops from a high height). ⠀ ⠀ Of all the options, bounding is one of the most intense forms of plyometrics that an athlete can do. If executed well, bounding activities can be a potent training stimulus. Bounds can be performed in a low amplitude manner (aka ‘baby bounds’), of moderate intensity, and with very high intensity variants such as speed bounding and bounds for height. ⠀ ⠀ For very advanced athletes you can crank up the intensity even higher by amplifying the impact forces via a supra-maximal height fall. In this video, the athlete performs alternating bounds where every other contact involves a bound from a box. The increased height of the fall magnifies the forces at impact and challenges the athlete to produce massive forces (eccentrically) very fa...
