There is no such thing as a bad exercise (unless it puts you at risk for injury), but there is certainly a hierarchy of value for exercises. Not all exercises are created equal. When designing strength programs, the foundation of the program should be drawn from the major movement patterns (squat, lunge, press, pull, etc). Simple is often better and novel, highly specific and unproven exercises should be saved as accessory options if they are used at all.
