The approach in bilateral jumping is very interesting because it is considerably slower than one footed jumping. ryangarces3 Almost gallops into the takeoff, but he does two things very well that contribute to his jump height; he is relatively low early in the approach, and he has a good controlled speed. What do I mean by “low”? I mean, his knees, hips, and ankles stay slightly bent; almost like a velociraptor from Jurassic Park, he keeps the legs slightly flexed through the run. This allows him to minimize any of the downward forces caused by gravity at takeoff.
