Happy Star Trek Day! On Sept 8, 1966, the greatest television show in the history of television shows (IMHO) debuted on NBC. It was ground breaking and revolutionary while being innocent, destroyed taboos and delivered social commentary without being preachy or heady. I will always cherish this photo and getting to meet Nichelle Nichols, who played Lt. Uhura. A true hero and pioneer, she was the first African-American woman to have such a prominent role on a tv series. She was super sweet and genuine and loved that I complimented her on her turquoise jewelry. It was really beautiful, and so was she. Live long and prosper, indeed! Fun fact: “Star Trek” ran 3 seasons, 66-68, same as “Batman” on ABC and “The Monkees” on NBC.
