(pictured; center) Renowned for his advocacy of workers' rights, Mr. Randolph used his pen as a beacon of change in 1917-1928, editing the awareness magazine, The Messenger, to rally support for the black labor movement. In 1925, he forged a historic path by leading The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and Maids, the first labor organization led by Black individuals to receive a charter in the American Federation of Labor. Yet, Randolph's impact transcended the labor sphere.
