To kick off the new year, I’m taking you around 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗺—𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹, a community named after Benjamin Thorne who settled in the valley in 1820. Benjamin became a major influence in the economic life of the village. By 1830, Thornhill had a variety of services including a distillery, millwright, shopkeeper, sawmills, blacksmiths, and more. 🏣 This subdivision differs from most since it's a part of two cities: the City of Markham and the City of Vaughan. The west side of Thornhill is in Vaughan and the east is in Markham, with Yonge Street being the dividing line.
