To kick off the new year, I’m taking you around 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗺—𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹, a community named after Benjamin Thorne who settled in the valley in 1820. Benjamin became a major influence in the economic life of the village. By 1830, Thornhill had a variety of services including a distillery, millwright, shopkeeper, sawmills, blacksmiths, and more. 🏣
This subdivision differs from most since it's a part of two cities: the City of Markham and the City of Vaughan. The west side of Thornhill is in Vaughan and the east is in Markham, with Yonge Street being the dividing line. Within these 2 large cities, you'll find many community centres, parks, public schools, golf clubs, and the well-known Centerpoint Mall.
