You: I love pictures of the eclipse!⁣ LRO: Hold my drink⁣ ⁣ During the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, when people all over North America were capturing their own photographs of the celestial event, NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) captured its own image from about 223,000 miles (359,000 km) away.⁣ ⁣ In this image, the Moon’s shadow can be seen darkening the Earth’s surface in an area centered near Cape Girardeau, MO. There are three cameras that comprise the LRO camera (LROC) suite: two Narrow Angle Cameras (NAC) and one Wide Angle Camera.
