Congratulations to Mr. Richard Harris, Upper School English teacher, for the publishing of his original poem, “The Energy Between Things,” in the Asheville Poetry Review. The most recent edition (which you can find in our school library) features a striking red and blue portrait of Walt Whitman, whose poetry Mr. Harris has taught for over two decades at Charlotte Latin School. The publication also includes a biographical blurb for Mr. Harris detailing that he has poems in Iodine Poetry Journal and Free Verse: A Journal of Contemporary Poetry and Poetics, was awarded runner-up by Robert Creeley in The Writers’ Workshop’s International Poetry Contest, and presented his paper “Dare Seize The Fire: Jack Gilbert’s Blakean Tyger” at the Wordsworth Conference in Grasmere, England. #hawksflyhigh
