Street vendors have always been part of the fabric of New York City. Yet their licenses are often attained on the grey market, since the cap for permits hasn’t been raised since 1979. There is no government body responsible for street vendors; their strongest advocate is a small but mighty nonprofit named @streetvendorproject.
