Ventrell Miller, the leader of the Florida Gators' defense, is spending his bye week helping Hurricane Ian survivors in the Fort Myers area. trell_51 started a GoFundMe that has raised about $9,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
“Ventrell is what being a University of Florida football player is all about,” coach Billy Napier said.
It's an incredible turnaround from his arrival on the UF campus, when he and eight teammates were suspended for the entire 2017 season after going on spending sprees with stolen credit cards. Some of those players transferred or just fell by the wayside. Miller decided to stick it out, and he's transformed himself into an unquestioned leader in Gainesville.
