Less than a week after Mike White was hired away from Gainesville by SEC rival Georgia, the Gators men's basketball team has a new head coach who is no stranger to the conference. Todd Golden, who became the head coach at San Francisco in 2019, previously spent two seasons on Bruce Pearl's staff at Auburn. The 36-year-old played point guard at St. Mary's, helping the Gaels to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances during his collegiate career before playing professionally in Israel for a couple of seasons. Golden guided the Dons to a 24-10 overall record this past season. San Francisco, who plays in the West Coast Conference with perennial powerhouse Gonzaga, earned an at-large bid in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. They lost Thursday night in a first-round game to Murray State.
