The Gator's Brady Singer will get the start in UF's NCAA College World Series Opener Sunday night, June 17, 2018 against Texas Tech at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska at 7pm. On Friday, June 15, 2018, Singer was selected as the 32nd Dick Howser Trophy recipient as the College Baseball Player of the Year. Singer is the second Florida player to win the award, following Mike Zunino in 2012. Singer has already been named to First Team All-American, was named Player Of The Year by Baseball America and D1Baseball, as well as 2018 SEC Player Of The Year by the league's coaches. The Dick Howser Award is given in memory of former FSU All-America shortstop and MLB player and manager Dick Howser, who died of brain cancer in 1987. It's regarded by many as college baseball's most prestigious award.
