The lyrics of the Beatles hit, Taxman, famously commented on the then Labour government’s 95% supertax that had forced the world’s most recognisable band to the brink of bankruptcy.
But the song’s prophetic verse section is sadly more true for the majority of Londoners today under Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan’s tax-heavy regime than at any time in our city’s illustrious history.
