Storm’s a-brewin’ | Environment Canada has issued a snow warning for Calgary and the surrounding area, expecting between 10 and 15 cm of snow in Calgary on Thursday, March 15. Once the snow stops falling it will activate the Seven-Day Snow Plan. Current Status • Crews are applying anti-icing material to trouble spots, such as bridge decks and on-off ramps along Priority 1 (P1) routes. Pre-treating roadways prevents ice from forming when it snows and temperatures drop. • As per The City’s Seven-Day Snow Plan, crews will work on P1 routes while snow continues to fall to ensure the maximum number of commuters can move through the City safely. • All available equipment will be in use to plow snow and apply salt or pickle. Pickle is a salt-gravel mixture that prevents ice buildup and improves vehicle traction. • At this time, there’s no need for a snow route parking ban.
