Sitting in a privileged little bubble called Singapore, it’s easy to feel detached from violence. We’ve never really understood or experienced the intensity of going through war/conflict. It’s always seemed so far away and so, many of us don’t feel connected to these things. I see pictures of war torn countries amidst fantasy/escapist posts and cosmetic posts. One thumb swipe and it’s out of my life. Why should we care? How can we even affect any change anyway? These are the reasons that helped me understand why no matter what, we need to talk about this now: 1. Raising awareness means even if we can’t do very much (other than donating to the right sites so that the people there can have the best fighting chance), hopefully the power of the people can reach those of more affluence or influence that can affect real change. 2. To show both the Sudanese people and their oppressors that the people of Sudan have the support of the world. 3. Because it is happening RIGHT NOW, not last wee...
