#DYK that the Stone House is not made from stone? The walls are actually concrete!
During its construction in 1922, reclaimed stone from the Town of Cutler era was incorporated into decorative elements of the Stone House to give it an instantly aged appearance reminiscent of the Deering’s seaside Spain estates Maricel and Tamarit.
#Funfact: when the initial supply of stone from the remnants of Town of Cutler structures within the grounds was exhausted, more stone was brought in from a nearby Perrine quarry.
