#ThisWeek in 1960, over 300 students gathered to officially lay the foundation for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.
Across the three-day weekend, these passionate individuals, along with other organizers united to help organize sit-ins, marches, and other acts of peaceful protest.
The Black college student ran organization played a critical role in exposing racial discrimination across the South and popularizing the Civil Rights Movement.
