#WhyIRelayWednesday 💜🎗 "I relay for my grandparents, Joe and Cecelia Russo. My grandpa lost his battle to lung cancer in 2019 but his legacy lives on as an incredible husband, grandfather, and coach. Throughout his lifetime he touched the lives of so many individuals, serving as St John’s Baseball coach for 22 seasons and leading the team to two college World Series. He was one of three coaches in program history to be named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Alongside him for this journey was my grandma- a strong, funny, kind, fearless woman. She fought and won her battle against breast cancer in 2007 and has been in remission ever since. Everyday I wish I got more time to spend with my grandfather- listening to his lifetime of stories, learning from him, and seeing the love he shared for his family and my grandma.
