The Inverted Row is a great upper body exercise for all fitness levels - from the complete beginner to the advanced lifter. It will add strength and muscle mass to the back, biceps & forearms, strengthen your core as well as your grip strength. It's bodyweight which means you can do more reps for time under tension. You can also vary the strength demands by walking your feet under the bar more, bending your knees to 90 or propping your feet up on a bench. It's also a great bridging exercise to prepare you for a full pull up or chin up if you struggle with those. . .
