The rear elevated split squat (or Bulgarian split squat) is one of the most effective lower body exercises for building unilateral strength, power, balance, hip mobility and general athleticism with little equipment. It's a compound exercise which means it works several muscle groups at once: quads, glutes, hamstrings, abdominals and back erectors. Toes can be tucked or flat, shoulders and hips should be square. Keep torso upright, core engaged and weight evenly distributed through the whole foot as you lower. Front knee will form approximately a 90° angle (maybe more depending on mobility) just don't let the knee cave inward. . .
