Ever heard of Perturbation-based Balance Training? Sounds super technical but for sports performance training it essentially means using drills and exercises to fine-tune the body’s reaction to anything that might disturb an athlete’s balance. When you can anticipate someone trying to knock you off the puck or ball it’s much easier to maintain your balance than it is if they take you by surprise and that’s where PBT comes in. PBT challenges reactive balance control which is what helps your body recover when you start to fall – you may avoid the fall altogether or recover enough to control the fall. For athletes, this means enhanced performance as well as injury prevention. . .
