Ronald Reagan was unaware of his Scottish roots until he received a letter from the minister of Castlehead Kirk in Paisley. The letter revealed that some of Reagan's ancestors were buried on the grounds and that his great-great-grandparents had been married there before immigrating to America. . . The 40th American President and his wife Nancy visited the site in 1991. The Reagans received a painting of the church which they promised to hang in a place honour in his home.
