Day 3 Recap: ⠀ We here at the Bowerman Track Club believe in the team conception of our sport; that it and you are better when you pursue your goals with a group of likeminded individuals and friends. In the end, however, the results are mostly individual. That leads to races like yesterday’s Women’s 1500m final, full of conflicting emotions. Six women across two lanes reached the top of the homestretch ready to kick for three spots on the World Championship team and one title. Among them were Shelby, Kate, and Elise. Shelby, as she has so many times in the past, had the best final 100m in the field and stormed home to take US Championships number 10! ⠀ For Shelby it was elation, to win again in front of so many of her friends and family in Iowa. For Kate and Elise, it was disappointment. After throwing herself aggressively into the race, Elise was distanced in the final 100m and finished 9th.
