Let's take a serious look at Pimento Cheese and The Monfort Burger for National Burger Day!
While it's hard to imagine anyone appreciating the heavenly combination of shredded cheese, cream cheese, mayo, and diced red pimentos as much as Southerners, pimento cheese actually got its start up North — in New York. The story goes, back in the 1870s farmers started making, cream cheese, around the same time, Spain started sending canned red peppers or "pimiento" over to the United States. We soon caught on, minus the extra "i", and it became a staple of many kitchens, including ours in the 1990's! Now, this house-made Southern staple kicks the Monfort Burger up a few notches with crispy bacon, and pickled jalapeños on our 100% prime beef patty.
