Happy National Poinsettia Day! Poinsettias are a Christmas tradition; a tradition Bachman’s has been a part of for decades. Down at our farm in Lakeville, we grow 60,000 poinsettias every year. These are stunning beauties representing history and holiday tradition, but you may not know much about them. Here are some fun facts about poinsettias: . - Joel Roberts Poinsett introduced the poinsettia to the United States around 1835. - Poinsettias are the best-selling potted plant in the United States and Canada. - December 12 marks the day of Joel Roberts Poinsett’s death and is now honored as National Poinsettia Day. - The poinsettia is a native plant to Mexico and Central America.
