An extremely unusual shoulder surgery has been coming to see us for the past couple of months. ⁠ ⁠ A man in his mid-30s who had ruptured his pectoralis major tendon six years ago had decided he wanted it repaired. The surgeon did not have enough tendon to guarantee good length and so used a cadaveric achilles tendon as a graft.⁠ ⁠ The progress so far has been very good and he has achieved a good range of movement. The surgeon Ziali Sivardeen has been supportive throughout but agreed there were not many previous outcomes to compare this one to. ⁠ ⁠ There are currently strength deficits which are being addressed but at week 12 he is able to produce decent force. Importantly for the patient, he has been able to return to his sporting passion.... snooker. Bet you were wondering what the picture was about!⁠ ⁠ It's not the most strenuous of return-to-sport rehab pathways, however range of movement has been important to him as well as confidence in the aesthetic element of the surgery.⁠ ⁠ #ls...
