Interesting case from clinic this week with a 35 year old fit and active male who - like many - has been running more during lockdown. He pushed himself to do 200km during the month of April which was a significant increase.
He felt worsening shin pain at the junction of upper two thirds L and R and even had a palpable lump on the medial L tibia.
Again, like many, he'd been trying to 'run through the pain'. Fast forward to an MRI* showing a grade 4 stress fracture on the left side (with callus formation around the fracture line) and grade 3 on the right side.
He won't be running 200km a month for some time yet...
