Open Sessions Artist 2018-20: Omid Shekari . "I make my art in the hope of capturing stories which speak universally about how force and violence still determine the rhythms and laws of power within the human experience. Although the source for my imagery is specific, I compose the scenes to feel vaguely familiar, almost dreamlike, at times nightmarish, something that could be taking place anywhere and anytime.” - Omid Shekari . Omid Shekari lives and works in Amherst, Massachusetts. His work has been shown at NADA, New York, Ohio State University; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. . Open Sessions is a two-year program which provides opportunities for selected artists to contextualize work and ideas through exhibitions, public programs, and critical dialogue, organized by Rosario Güiraldes and Lisa Sigal, Open Sessions Curators. . #OpenSessionsTDC #OmidShekari OmidShekari⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Image: Omid Shekari, “Toilet”, 2014, Ink and Acrylic on Canvas, 68 x 75 inches
