As part of “Open Sessions 2018–2020: What’s Love Got to Do with It?” (opening August 16) we asked each of our artists-in-residence: “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” Open Sessions artist 2018-20 Ludovica Carbotta responds below:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Love is completely irrational, I would say that the process of drawing, for me, is closer to the process of trying to explain love in a rational way. When I try to translate my imagination into a drawing, I never get the whole of it. When you imagine something or someone you don’t have the immediate sense of perspective or the sense of the place, in the imagination is possible to see from every angle.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ludovica Carbotta lives and works in New York.
